Megan Eisenstein

Megan Eisenstein is a second-year majoring in Government and minoring in Dance, Psychology, and Data Science. She was elected to the LU Dems board in March 2023 and was recently re-elected Social Chair. After the summer of 2022, when Roe v. Wade was overturned and the devastating shooting in Highland Park occurred only 30 minutes away from her, Megan searched for a way to help people in a way she wanted. And that's when she found the Lawrence Democrats. She fostered her passion for political activism during her first term at Lawrence, during which Tony Evers won re-election as Governor of Wisconsin. Since then, she's canvassed, led phonebanks, and traveled to Madison for the College Democrats of Wisconsin Convention in April 2023 and 2024.

No moment filled her with pride as much as when Janet Protasiewicz won in a "Janslide" in spring 2023 against a conservative opponent for a seat on the Wisconsin State Court, flipping the court liberal for the first time in years. Inspired to keep going more than ever, Megan then worked as an intern for the Illinois Tenth Congressional District Democrats. She had the privilege of meeting Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, as well as other Democratic elected officials. Through her internship, she got to see more of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into politics, and she feels incredibly blessed to get to do this amazing work with even more amazing people.

She's thrilled to continue working with the Lawrence Democrats and serve as the group's Social Chair, igniting change and having fun while doing it! If she's not volunteering with Democrats, you can find her singing, spending time in nature, and meditating.
